I'll never reach my career goal! Not True Job Seeker!

Emotions and negative thoughts can rise up for a person that is looking for a new job. Or a person may be working towards a new career and graduation may seem like it is taking forever to arrive. These words may fill a job seekers mind or spill out of their mouth "I'll never reach my goal."

A person will not reach their career goal if they do not have a plan of action. A person will fail if they do not listen to the advice of people who have gone before them and tried to do something similar to what they are drying to achieve.
Candle maker, Inventor, and Civil Servant Ben Franklin once said “By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”

This quote is definitely true but one must add to the quote. Someone’s first draft of a plan is not always going to be successful. In seeking employment and other parts of life people are going to find that they are going to have to make changes to their original plan. One way of obtaining employment is not going to be the perfect solution to obtaining the job or career that you want.

A person should not think that they are never going to reach their goal. In truth they haven’t found the right plan to obtain what they want. There are a lot of things that go into planning a career change or obtaining a new job. Activities such as creating a cover letter, resume, and sending them out to potential job offers is definitely part of a plan. There is so much more to achieving a new job or career.

The important thing to remember as a job seeker is that it’s o.k. to have these feelings. These feelings are just a perception and not the truth of what the job market really is about. Keep your head up and keep fighting for what you want.
In the next couple of weeks, Career Nations will have more articles on the emotions, feelings, and thoughts that a job seeker might experience.
